Elkhorn School (209) 953-8330
Minimum Day: Tomorrow, Tuesday begins Elkhorn’s conference week. School begins at 7:50am and dismisses at Noon for ALL students on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please pick up your student promptly by 12:30pm each day.
Book Fair Info: The Fall Book Fair is open Tuesday thru Friday before school, at recess, at lunch, and for Cookie Conferences after school until 1pm. Students who come with a parent or other adult after school can enjoy free cookies together while they shop. The website for our Book Fair is http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/elkhornschool. Happy reading!
Cookie Dough and Bags orders: The PTSA would like to remind everyone that cookie dough and bag orders are due tomorrow, Wednesday. Orders will be delivered after break on October 15th.
Dress Code Reminder: Fall is knocking at the door and a good time to review the dress code policy as found in the planner. Tops should always cover undergarments. Shorts and skirts must be at least finger tip length. Leggings are not allowed unless if under a dress or skirt that is finger tip length. Leggings or other stretch-type bottoms like exercise/yoga pants alone are not appropriate attire. Hats may be worn outside but must be removed when entering a building. Middle school students have PE daily, so athletic shoes are required. Students not in dress code may be given an alternate outfit to wear and/or call home for appropriate clothing.
Money for Elkhorn from Weberstown Mall: Have you been shopping at Weberstown Mall? Or do you need an excuse? Here’s a good one - help Elkhorn win cash prizes with every dollar you spend between August 1st - September 28th at Weberstown Mall by bringing your receipts to the Mall Office (in Weberstown Mall). Each dollar spent is worth one point to our school. Double points for gift card purchases! The 5 schools with the most points will win a cash prize up to $3,000. You could be a winner too! Each week a customer will win a $50 gift card just for bringing in receipts. If you’ve kept your receipts from the beginning of August, take those in too!
Attendance Awareness: September is Attendance Awareness month and Elkhorn has partnered with UOP to reward perfect attendance. The “Every Day Counts” program rewards students who maintain perfect attendance. Those students with perfect attendance will be entered into a drawing for Kindle e-readers, gift cards, and more held on October 6th. Perfect attendance is defined as “not missing school for any reason.”
Box Top Drive: Save your Box Tops - the Fall Drive begins in October. This is an easy way to raise money for Elkhorn. Save all your Box Tops to turn in during the Fall Drive in October.
Homework Requests: Absent students are responsible for making up all missed work. Students absent for one or two days should expect to take care of missed work, tests, and assignments upon their return to school. Parents/Guardians may contact the office to request homework on the third day of an excused absence. Teachers cannot be expected to prepare assignments for planned absences that exceed five days. Please note that removing your student from school for an extended period of time results in a large quantity of make-up assignments and irretrievable/irrecoverable instructional time.
