Elkhorn School (209) 953-8330

Important Reminders!

Minimum Day: Tomorrow, Wednesday is a minimum day.  School begins at 7:50am and dismisses at Noon for ALL students.  Please pick up your student promptly by 12:30pm.

Scrip Orders: Scrip order forms were sent home last week.  Scrip is gift cards, used like cash at your favorite businesses - and they make great gifts!  A percentage of each Scrip order is given back directly to your child’s classroom.  Completed orders are due to the office by 8:30am on Monday, September 15th.  Scrip will be delivered on Friday, September 19th.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up:  Please be patient in the parking lot. Pull as far forward as you can in the parking lot before letting children out of the car.  If you are going to park for any length of time, pull into a parking space - please do not park in the drop-off/pick-up zone around the outside of the parking lot and please do not double-park or ‘double-up’ at any time.  Please be patient to ensure a speedy and safe pick-up for our students.  And remember - no left turns out of the parking lot.

***And please do not park in front of our neighbors’ driveways and mailboxes.***

Money for Elkhorn from Weberstown Mall: Have you been shopping at Weberstown Mall?  Or do you need an excuse?  Here’s a good one - help Elkhorn win cash prizes  with every dollar you spend between August 1st - September 28th at Weberstown Mall by bringing your receipts to the Mall Office (in Weberstown Mall).  Each dollar spent is worth one point to our school.  Double points for gift card purchases!  The 5 schools with the most points will win a cash prize up to $3,000.  You could be a winner too!  Each week a customer will win a $50 gift card just for bringing in receipts.  If you’ve kept your receipts from the beginning of August, take those in too!

Attendance Awareness: September is Attendance Awareness month and Elkhorn has partnered with UOP to reward perfect attendance.  The “Every Day Counts” program rewards students who maintain perfect attendance.  Those students will be entered into a drawing for Kindle e-readers, gift cards, and more held on October 6th.  Perfect      attendance is defined as “not missing school for any reason.”

Box Top Drive: Save your Box Tops - the Fall Drive begins in October.  This is an easy way to raise money for Elkhorn.  Save all your Box Tops to turn in during the Fall Drive in October.

Homework Requests: Absent students are responsible for making up all missed work. Students absent for one or two days should expect to take care of missed work, tests, and assignments upon their return to school. Parents/Guardians may contact the office to request homework on the third day of an excused absence.  Teachers cannot be expected to prepare assignments for planned absences that exceed five days. Please note that removing your student from school for an     extended period of time results in a large quantity of make-up assignments and irretrievable/irrecoverable instructional time.

It’s Warm!  Just a few notes about Elkhorn’s dress code - Please make sure your    children are wearing appropriate clothing for school, not the beach.  See the handbook for details.  Students who choose not to follow our dress code may be given a school provided outfit to wear or call home for appropriate attire, and may receive a Lunch Time Enrichment.
